Lighthouse Photos
Today’s featured art gallery is Lighthouses by Lehane Corley McCourt.
Lighthouses are often surrounded by beautiful scenery, sitting by themselves on a point or island and jutting up into the sky with nearby water often filled with crashing waves.
Think of the lonely often harsh life of a lighthouse tender as they guard the shores and shallows for passing ships. Where would we be without lighthouses and the dedicated folks that tend them to safeguard ships?
This gallery captures many lovely scenes that make great framed prints to hang on any wall.

Lighthouses are beacons on the sea and in our lives. We are inspired by their beauty and important role to navigation.
Ned's Point Light near Buzzard's Bay and Cape Cod has been aiding navigators for a very long time.
Nubble light seems to fade into the foggy Maine sky. It appears insignificant compared to its rocky perch.
The mystery of old Scituate Light seems to be captured in this artistic rendering of it based on a photograph.
Old Scituate lighthouse stands on a rocky peninsula where it bravely fends off the waves from storms.
The lighthouse at Butler Flats and the channel marker have guided vacationers on their way to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard while also protecting the New Bedford and Fairhaven fishing fleets.
Beautiful Boston light is the oldest lighthouse in the United States and was commissioned by George Washington. It guides ships to the busy city.
The lighthouse at Palmer Island in New Bedford, Massachusetts guides the fishing fleet safely home and also help pleasure boat mariners with navigation.
Old Scituate light has a beautiful tapered shape and has been guiding mariners since before the revolutionary war days.
Pink twilight clouds present as beacon in the old Scituate lighthouse is illuminates the way for mariners.
The elusive Long Island Lighthouse off the coast of Boston can only be seen from boat at certain angles. This watercolor-like image reinforces its elusive quality.
Bug light is the name of this little lightouse near Plymouth and Duxbury, Massachusetts. In this image birds are settling in for the night as the sun begins to set.
Picture pretty Nobska light stands atop a hill surveying the sea below. This rendering of the light focuses on the land route to it with an old fence trying to keep the sand in place.
Old Scituate lighthouse has many tales to tell. There is the story of how teenage girls at the time of the Revolutionary War made so much noise they warded off a British landing party and saved the town. This image started as a photograph I made while climbing over rocks to get just the right view. Then I added some effects to it to make it seem to have a mythic aura.
