What a fun illustration of a green caterpillar who just can’t wait to fly. He’s gotten up into the sky with a bunch of floating orange balloons. He smiles while floating in the bright blue sky. What a great piece of art this would be in a kid’s room. I can easily imagine a framed print hanging on the wall.

Rabbit brings the food and makes sure there will be lots of yummy carrots. Frog choreographs a water ballet. Beaver brings plans and diagrams for party structures. Raccoon is in charge of decorating and brings lots of balloons.

A fairy tern soars over the garden of hope and dreams where the orange trees bear the sweetest fruit and there are always fragrant flowers blooming and a rainbow.

Red Poppy



Red Poppy - © Diana Ting Delosh 2008. Pen & ink & watercolor. This painting is based on sketches I had done of poppies in my mom's garden last spring. The crinkly paper thin, red orange petals are ablaze in the afternoon sun just shouting look at me, take note. I notice that the petal spots that I had always assumed were black are really a deep purple and that the bulbous centers are surrounded by a luxurious fringe of super fine black stamens.

Which lead me to skew the natural colors of my pea fowl couple from blues and greens to pinks and purples. This image was created with pen and ink and painted with Luma Dyes on watercolor paper.

Most of them are the yellow on yellow King Alfreds, but there are a few peach cups on white saucers and orange cups on yellow saucers sprinkled thhroughout.

Here I was in my neighbor’s garden, feeding their fish while they were away. It was a beautiful september morning, bees buzzing and birds chirping in the background and of course the one magnificent water lily bloom. I remembered being comforted by the thought that nature would go on even if we humans were bent on destroying each other. I’ve tried to recapture the peaceful beauty of my neighbor’s water lily pond that day in pen and ink and water colors.

Guardian of the Patch



Dragon lovers will enjoy this striking figure. Simple, yet elegant, "Guardian of the Patch" will grace your wall with dignity.

This dragon was inspired by my young daughter's request for a "pumpkin dragon." Eventually, a full scene will depict this dragon curled around a pumpkin and observed by other denizens of the Patch.
