Today’s featured art gallery is Scenic_Nature by Lynda Lehmann.
Beautiful skies and trees are captured in great photos of Nature at it’s finest. Green leaves, blue skies, and reflections off the waters create lovely scenes which would make nice framed prints.

Inspiring views of nature in all its glory. Form and color are the basis of design in nature, but it's light that makes it all happen. Here are photos of nature close and far, both larger scenes and closeups. Our Earth offers many surprises, and it's a joy to find them with my camera. The world seems bright and new with each discovery of nature's mystery and beauty.
Spray and Stone

Taken at Diana*s Baths in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This shot is one of contrasts: between light and shadow; the delicateness of the spray and solidity of the stone; between what is ephemeral (the water*s flow) and what is enduring (the mass and steadfastness of the boulders.) It is also a study in textures and the more subtle colors of nature*s beautiful palette. Image and text c Lynda Lehmann.
DRIFTS AND SHADOWS

I love the patterns the shadows of the trees makes, falling blue-gray across the unspoiled snow of the silent forest. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Burnished Leaves and Blueberries

In a puddle on a boulder in the Swift River of New Hampshre, blueberries and golden leaves, burnished by the first tinge of autumn. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Enchanted Forest

Of course, this is not a forest at all. It is, rather, a hardy ornamental kale struggling to embrace the sunshine and endure through cold winter days. When I saw this kale bursting with life, exploding its violet tones into the afternoon light, I had to look at it close up. That's when I saw magic in it: a bizarre yet beautiful forest of exotic foliage in alluring tones of green, auburn and violet.

Heaven Opens

The clouds part, to reveal brilliant light and a stunning sunset on a Maine lake in late summer. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
EFFERVESCENCE

Water flowing out from the base of a waterfall in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, gurgling and foaming past colored rocks in the sunlit stream. Near Diana's Bath. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Shadow Reach

The pattern of light and shadows cast by the birches, onto the fresh snow, makes an interesting abstract pattern. You can almost hear the silence.
Seeking Serenity

The serenity of twilight, a time when the light of day fades into that magic in-between period when dreams start to form and summon the darkness and somnolence of night...

Inconceivable Unfolding of a Palm

Designed and engineered by unseen intelligence of a higher order. The structure of this palm, seen at a local arboretum, is unbelievable! Image and text c Lynda Lehmann.
Night Rhythms

A sensous shot of water plants and grasses at dusk, on a lake in Maine. I like the rhythms of the ripples and grasses, and the shadows of the leaves. The peace and mystery of twilight are so soothing. Oftentimes, you can hear only a soft breeze and the plaintive cry of loons, while swallows take to the air and swoop in great arcs, in search of a dragonfly dinner. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Barkscape I

One of many beautiful abstract compositions contained within the variegated, weaving surface of palm tree bark. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
River of Dreams

An old railorad bridge spans the calm water of the Little Androscoggin in Mechanic Falls, Maine, on a warm summer day. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Journey

A lone walker, within the solitude of his private journey, is not alone. Though he is dwarfed by the majesty of the pines, the staunch and silent trees stand like guardians of sacred Truths and seem to give guidance, or point the way. Near Woodstock, NY. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
View from the Jetty on a Pristine Day

A gorgeous day and a stunning view over the edge of a jetty, to the curving sandy shoreline beyond. By Long Island Sound. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Shards and Needles

Bright-colored fall leaves and pine needles adorn shards of slate in a section of pine forest near Saugerties, New York.
Changes

The seasons change, and we change. All things cycle, yet remain the same. An endless progression of birth, transformation, death, and rebirth, is revealed in the surrender of the warm and fertile months, to winter's formidable grasp. Pain may mark our rites of passage as often as joy, but renewal waits on each day's horizon. Image and text c Lynda Lehmann.
Emerging

A young couple steps off a boardwalk onto the open expanse of the beach, emerging for the first time, from the confinement of a winter spent indoors. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Plunge Through Light and Shadow

A rivulet plunges out of the shadow of the forest and into the sun-dappled water of a stream, hissing and foaming as it catapults down the rocks. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Lake-Island Arbor Before the Squall

A ridge of trees on an island on a lake, in the Sebago Lake region of Maine, glows in the midday sunlight as the sky turns dark behind it. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Tranquil Lake Twilight

The breeze has eased and the water has turned to glass, turning the lake into a vast reflection of the twilit clouds. Photo taken in the Sebago Lake region of Maine. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
A WORLD OF THEIR OWN

A woman with a group of children around her, all clustered under a huge, majestic tree. They seem to be in a world of their own, sequestered in the shade of this blossoming giant.
Discovery

Children joyfully explore the rocks along the river at Diana's Baths, in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
The Gathering Storm

This photo was taken in the fields outside North Conway, New Hampshire, on a steamy, late summer afternoon, on a short hike with my husband and daughter. The weather was unsettled, with another thunderstorm threatening, so we were hesitant to go too far from the car. The view of the sun's rays spilling from the ominous clouds was spectacular, and you could feel an explosive energy building in the air. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Dazzled by the Sparkling Pool

ese girls wade into the clear, cold water pouring out of the White Mountains into Diana's Baths, a scenic and serene spot in eastern New Hampshire. I feel they must be as fascinated by the glimmer and colors of the rocks sparkling beneath the water*s rippling surface, as I am. Nature welcomes them into this beautiful and pristine pool among the boulders. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Encrusted

This image was shot at close range. Notice the gorgeous texture of this mineral encrusted boulder. The North Shore of Long Island is full of huge rocks, left by receding ice at the end of the Ice Age. Texture is the most ubiquitous kind of "form" and design in the universe. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
From the Wetlands to the Sound

Looking from the wetlands out to the open water of the Sound, I was taken by the weathered look and textural features of what was apparently once a dock. In this saltwater marsh, the holes where crabs had dug into the sand were everywhere. In here, sheltered from the breeze over the open water, we heard bountiful birdsong and saw a great variety of scrubby trees, including some varieties of pine I can't name, as well as flowering bushes. A bevy of seagulls called raucously over our heads as they made their way down the channel, following the last surge of receding tidal flow. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Shell and Satin

Sensuous shot of a white seashell ensconced in a "wave" of bright red fabric. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Pebbles in a Tidal Pool

Pebbles in a tidal pool, smoothed by years of surging and receding water. Their brillant colors are enhanced by their wetness. I'm always fascinated by rocks and pebbles for their surface qualities, mass, and the feeling of enduring presence they convey. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Luminous

Colorful beach pebbles, some shiny with flecks of mica, strewn on the beach near Long Island Sound. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Expanse

Quartz Terrain

A close up of the surface of a boulder on a jetty by Long Island Sound. Notice the gorgeous texture of these mineral encrusted boulders. The North Shore of Long Island is full of huge rocks, left by receding ice at the end of the Ice Age. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
The Time of Her Life

A pristine day, abundant with sunshine and fresh air. Both the sky and water were the most gorgeous, sparkling hues of blue and the wind was calm. Everything felt right: a truly mellow and harmonious afternoon.
This little girl romping through the water along the edge of Long Island Sound is feeling not only the coolness and refreshment of the water splashing her feet, but also the caress of the breeze and the warmth of a giving sun. She is truly discovering life, opening her senses to the wonders of the world around her. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Surface, Ulster County Boulder

The forest shows us the conjoined poles of the Grand Paradox, the dynamic mix and sensuous interplay of masculine and feminine principles, the unknowable yin and yang. From the steady, sure, unfading boulders anchoring the multitude of energies, to the glimmering rivulets vibrating between fertile shores; from the pristine, continuous blue of the sky-dome to the groping aggregates of rough moss and lichen fields; to the fleeting but certain presence of pungent breeze.... Something stirs in my soul, and it is larger than joy. Image and text c Lynda Lehmann.
Surging Into Sunlight

After a late spring rain, the forest bursts with life force. Blooming and burgeoning plant forms everywhere, grope their way into a new season of being, under the canopy. The rhythm of rushing water underscores the call of all things wild and free, into fresh growth, vigor, and lush green. Life unfolds. Image and text c Lynda Lehmann.
Sweet Calico Goat

This sweet animal has a beautiful calico coat and an engaging and unwavering gaze. My sense of awe and reverence for animals grows, as their soulfulness and apparent abililty to feel and even think, become more evident to me. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Life Forms

The forest shows us the conjoined poles of the Grand Paradox, the dynamic mix and sensuous interplay of masculine and feminine principles, the unknowable yin and yang. From the steady, sure, unfading boulders anchoring the multitude of energies, to the glimmering rivulets vibrating amid fecund shores; from the pristine, continuous blue of the sky-dome to the groping aggregates of rough moss and lichen fields; to the fleeting but certain presence of pungent breeze.... Emerald Forest, After the Rain

After a late spring rain, the freshened arbor bursts with life-force. Burgeoning plant-forms grope their way into another season of being, under the whispering canopy. The rhythm of rushing water underscores the call of all things wild and free, into fresh growth, vigor, and sparkling green. Resilient, life unfolds. The forest shows us the conjoined poles of the Grand Paradox, the dynamic mix and sensuous interplay of masculine and feminine principles, the unknowable yin and yang. From the steady, sure, unfading boulders anchoring the multitude of energies, to the glimmering rivulets vibrating inside fecund shores; from the pristine, continuous blue of the sky-dome to the groping aggregates of rough moss and lichen fields; to the fleeting but certain presence of pungent breeze.... Something stirs in my soul, and it is larger than joy. Image and text c 2008 Lynda Lehmann.
Dance Over Boulders

This child's smile and lithe step say a lot about his sense of joy and discovery at this beautiful scenic spot on a New Hampshire river. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Wild Water, Sacred Stone

Bouilders and streaming water make a nice composition and a strong contrast between solidity and fluidity. Taken in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
A Time of Peace

Peace settles over the lake at dusk, like a balm to the soul. Except for the occasional call of a loon from far away, there is only a deep and penetrating silence. The world settles into shadow while rich swaths of color still play in the western sky. Image and text c Lynda Lehmann.
Shimmering Pool

Sun spangled water plays over colored pebbles. The light show is mesmerizing and beautiful, and infinite in its rhythms and variations. Taken in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Boulders and Sky

What I like about this shot is the sense of scale the viewer gets from the tiny figures in the background, while the mass of the boulders anchors the panorama and gives a sure sense of foreground. Long Island has some beautiful scenic beaches. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
Pebble Essence

Glimmering pebbles, rich in color under the sunlit stream. Taken in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Image c Lynda Lehmann.
