Arizona Desert Windmill

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Today’s featured art is Rustic Windmill by Jenice McQuarrie

A windmill sits in the Arizona desert in this digital artwork.

I can imagine it pumping water for some plucky rancher’s herd of cows. How hard to scrape out a living in a dry climate where water is scarce.

Prices for Rustic Windmill begin at $16.98, subject to change.

Bright Fractal Art

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Today’s featured art gallery is Fractals by Kelly Naylor

What a great gallery filled with bright fractal art made up of interesting shapes and patterns. When I saw this collection of digital artwork… There was something about it that drew my eye and made me take a closer look. I like bright colors and sharp distinct patterns, and this gallery is filled with good examples of fractal art like that.

Fractals can be complex or simple, and like my other art is always a delightful surprise.

Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky is a wacky, wicked, weird poem and I love it. Is this a Mimsy?

This is one of my many fractal creations. In this one, I see stars, planets, whole galaxies dancing in a birthing frenzy.

I've been reading science fiction for <mumble> years, and I'm sure I've never seen a space colony described this way. It would be pretty cool, though, wouldn't it?

I'm a serious fan of Stargate SG-1... and I'm pretty sure traveling through the wormhole would be worse on my sense of balance than a roller coast. But I'd still go!

Other Worlds Abstract Art

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Today’s featured art is What Could Be by Auggie Falzarano

A futuristic abstract scene with planets (or moons) floating above the horizon of a watery world capture the imagination with thoughts of possible other worlds.

Anyone with an interest in science fiction has probably dreamed of places like this, with bright sharp colors plus interesting shapes and patterns. Who knows what may be somewhere, somewhen?

Wouldn’t this be a great print for your wall bringing thoughts of other worlds?

Prices for What Could Be begin at $40.00, subject to change.

Fauvist Tug Boat in New York Harbor

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Today’s featured art is Linda Lee Bouchard Tugboat by Vincent O’Hare

Interesting art with bright colors depicting the Linda Lee Bouchard tugboat in New York Harbor off the coast of Manhattan, done in a fauvist style.

The bold colors and distortion are characteristic of fauvism, which was a short lived movement in the early 20th century.

What matters to me, is not how long a artistic movement lasted but the results of art done in that style. And… I like the results as shown in this artwork.

Prices for Linda Lee Bouchard Tugboat begin at $40.00, subject to change.

Impatient Caterpillar Illustration

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Today’s featured art is Impatient Caterpillar by John Schwegel

What a fun illustration of a green caterpillar who just can’t wait to fly. He’s gotten up into the sky with a bunch of floating orange balloons. He smiles while floating in the bright blue sky. What a great piece of art this would be in a kid’s room. I can easily imagine a framed print hanging on the wall.

Prices for Impatient Caterpillar begin at $13.58, subject to change.
