This photograph was taken in New Zealand’s Mount Cook National Park on the country’s South island. This alpine park is located deep in the Southern Alps and is home to New Zealand’s largest glaciers and mountains. Taken as the sun was beginning to drop in the late afternoon sky, this image shows a brilliant sun flare above the glorious snow capped mountains.
